Made it through yesterday, what to do today?
Hi,
I made it through yesterday without alcohol. I hated wanting it so much and not drinking. I am glad I didn't drink but I hate thinking about it so much. I am really committed to NOT drinking now. I honestly want it to be done but I really don't want to constantly think about it. I live where there are very few AA meetings and there is not one today. What should I do to help me through?

My first week or so, I clung to SR like it was going out of fashion It really helped to get me though. Give it a try
Well done on getting through yesterday, I PROMISE you, it does get easier Xx

DO something.
Make a kite.
Balance your checkbook.
Paint the bathroom.
Check the oil on your car.
Call your Aunt.
Make a grocery list.
Learn Korean.
Check the expiration date on all your canned food.
Go to the animal shelter and volunteer.
Sweep the kitchen.
Make a list of all the restaurants you want to visit this year.
Alphabetize your CD collection
Revise your budget.
Do the things people who aren't addicted to alcohol do. But don't sit around thinking about how much you wish you weren't an alcoholic and could have a little drinkie. There's no benefit to it.

I second the above posters: hang out on SR, read the posts, respond to others and/or do something more proactive regarding your practical reality. Read a book. Maybe do a task you have been neglecting or procrastinating for a while and it's giving you stress. Go for a walk if you can. Watch movies. I would suggest small and rewarding things.

Stay on SR. I'm on day 8. I stay logged in here all day long. It does get easier. The first six days were torture for me. I couldn't think about anything other than booze. My physical withdrawals are now gone. Now I am working on the emotional and mental aspects. Keep busy and check in here frequently!! You CAN do this!!!! It DOES get better. Be strong and get your "high" from thinking about how much better your life is going to be. DON'T waste another day of it!!!!!!
There's a great 'Sticky' on this one: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ething-do.html

Ok, I am going to keep busy as you suggested. I am going to keep believing that the desire to drink will go away. It is remarkable how alcohol has infiltrated my life and I want it out!!!!
