Self control.
Self control.
Reading here most days I see myself popping up on so many of the posts, and imagine it's the same for others.
One thing that comes up is self control either as a way of self berating or others critical opinion, and at a time when a boost of personal hope and pride really do need support.
To those early on, self control seems to come when acceptance that we can't drink ever. This for most is after a few attempts at controlled drinking ended spinning out of control.
For those of early on, right now don't even think of it in those terms it doesn't help just hang on in and use everything you can to gain time till you can exercise control but more importantly if you have a partner show them this or explain that right now self control needs their support, and this often at a time when they are either frantic to help or washing their hands of the situation.
But right now do not waste time on pitying your loss of self control accept it and move on that's all part of the situation and it's common to all.
