Day 7

For the first time I'm sensing slight urges. No way I'm caving. They'll pass.

I've been at work for almost 12 hours and slept only about 4 last night. I just need a concrete goal for when I get home. Looks like a long walk for the dog (in the opposite direction from the grocery/liquor store).

Sorry, I'm just talking to myself. It seems to make it easier to follow through if I write these things down.

Thanks,
ODog

Great job on 7 days! I know that writing/typing things down helps me a lot, too.

Hope you and the dog have a good walk

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

You're not talking to yourself ODog. It makes perfect sense to write it down - helps with the anxiety. We all understand how it feels in those early days.

Congratulations on Day 7 - and it will definitely get easier.

Hello (fellow) Olive!
Walking my dog always changes my headspace from me to him, giving my head a chance to reset. Great idea!
Good job on 7 days!

For me the first two weeks were the toughest and I wouldn't have made it without support, sugar, and sleep. SR and many great sober blogs were, and are a major source. of that support. It also helps to tell your AV to f*** off when those cravings rear their ugly head!

It ain't easy but you are awesome and can keep going.

good luck. I'm one day behind you. I having half urges myself. Today I just sort of stood and looked at the vodka aisle in the convenience store and for a second, thought of what AV wants me to think are good memories. Then I quickly remembered how with just one sip, it would be all over and I'd be back to my rounds in town, buying pints, being miserable, being unproductive, wallowing in bed here and there and just being smothered by the beast.

Thanks, letustry. I just had faint images earlier of myself buying a bottle on the way home from work, and I wanted to confront them.

The dog has been pretty pleased with all of her extended walks the past few days.

The big plan for the weekend is to finally collect all the bottles scattered around the house and put them in one place for disposal. It seemed too daunting a task this week. I was just trying to focus on the one thing -- not drinking. I didn't have too much difficulty these first seven days, which suggests to me that next week might be tougher.

Hang tough and be good to yourself.

Best,
ODog
