Stay on this site and let your friends on this side of the pond help! The craving will pass and it won't take long. Maybe go for a long walk or a little exercise?
Any chance of hitting a meeting yet this afternoon/tonight?
Stay on SR and let us help.
Also - always helps me to play the tape forward and think about what how miserable I would feel after. Nothing good will come of drinking. I heard a good quote this a.m. at a breakfast meeting - - Trouble always sounds like fun but never is.....
Only 30 days in here. I understand the AV trying to trick you. Stay strong and good luck!

Been to the gym earlier n just been walking around with my kids.
Going to do some ironing n put some candles on n try to just chill out from the thought.
Jesus it's awful thought I was doing so well 6 days in

I felt the same way yesterday afternoon and eating something fulfilling really helped. As did drinking lots of water and/or seltzer. Everyone is different but for me having a full belly really helps with cravings. And you will feel SO much better for it tomorrow! If I caved yesterday, as much as that glass if wine sounded soooo good, I would have hated the world this morning. Instead, I woke up rested and ready to take on the day.
Also, remember that the more sober time you have built up, the less frequent the cravings. If you go back to day one you will just have to face them all over again. You can do this!

Another suggestion....if the cravings become unmanageable you might talk with your doc about the topic on your next visit. I'm early in recovery as well. After a lot of challenges I ended up with an anti-craving medication to help with my transition. My goal is to be on this for 2-3 months and then evaluate my progress. May not be for you but i've found it extremely helpful on my end.
Hang in there....it only gets better if we stay sober.

Hi zombie girl how you doing? The cravings can be intense can't they? I always view them as a competition between me and them. It is a little unfair as they need me to pick up the drink because they ,of course, cannot pick up the drink themselves! Isn't it a shame for them? Learn to expect the cravings, they may come at the same time maybe early evening. Time the cravings see if they shorten after a while.
They will get fewer and fewer and shorter and shorter as time goes by. See how you are at thirty days ,I think you may be surprised! I have had a few recently but I know how to handle them and know they will go away . Eating chocolate or ice cream is a real favourite on here and I defo use them. The sugar rush seems to satisfy the cravings.
Have you read about AVRT and urge surfing? Google them they may help you understand what cravings are.
Sometimes you just have to get your head down and battle through but you hold all the aces and you can do this, have no doubt.

I agree, the cravings can be awful. I cried through a few of them.
I agree with the others, play the tape through. Think about how you'll feel in the morning. You know it's not worth it.
Stay strong, they will get easier as you get more sober time. You can do it!

I went shopping and bought the girls a load of new clothes instead.
I also cooked and cleaned in the time it took to pass.
Still have an awful niggling at the back of my head but I have to get over it xxx
Hot chocolate with cream n marshmallows tonight as I'm kicking it's arse

Two ideas -
Look at your earlier posts from days gone by when you were hurting because of alcohol.
Find something constructive to do. If you're at home maybe cook something. Something physical and mental.

Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired?
HALT!
Are you any of the above?
If so, treat that and whatever you do, don't drink.
I have to admit, I was a bit of a piggy at the beginning.
That does not work for people with eating disorders or tendencies but often just eating something warm and filling or just delicious satisfied my cravings.
No drink, even if your arse falls off!
Give the kids annoying squishy hugs also.
That is fun. And when they are wriggling away from you, it will make you laugh.

I hear ya. Sometimes I don't even recognize it until it passes, then Im like, "ugh, that was a craving"
Its tense, ragey, urge for something inexplainable, like being really, really thirsty in my chest. ? I dont know how to explain really. THey are getting less at 6 days though, thank goodness.
