Day 3 and feeling like crap...

I've had the worst few night's sleep ever and feel like I've got flu. I'm irritable and twitchy (when I'm not feeling like a zombie) and my guts feel like they've been in a tumble dryer. If I don't sleep tonight I'm gonna be really good fun tomorrow! I know the routine by now, I just need to ride it out a few more days before I feel any benefit...

Hang in there James!! . . . the flu feeling passes in time, and that's when the benefits start appearing!! . . . In my first week, I felt almost like jet lagged, work was incredibly tough not having much sleep the night before, but plenty of fresh air and staying hydrating will get you through!!

Thanks purpleknight, I'm OK, just having a rant! I know the only option is sticking it out. I'll only be back to this point in a few days if I don't.

Yeah the insomnia hits me like a truck too. It lasted about a week for me. I'm sure you'll do great!

James,
WB! Glad to see you back on the real ride of sobriety. What are you going to do different this time that may help another get past it?

James - Hang in there. First week or so was the worst and things get better after that. Glad you are here...

This may sound like a small thing, but one of the big triggers for me is hunger; when I'm hungry I start feeling mentally low - so instead of food, I often go for the bottle as a 'pick-me-up' (which doesn't actually work!). So diet is a big thing I want to sort out.

James,
How are you doing today? Starting to feel better despite the lack of sleep? Day 4?

Hi Itchy, yeah I'm on day 4 and had a slightly better night last night. I'm still having stomach and gut issues which are entirely my own fault! But yes thanks, I'm feeling a lot better generally and even did a few weights this morning. I think it's sinking in to my fiance too, the amount of damage I'm doing/have done to myself, so she's been more supportive. Hopefully this is the time it sticks. Bring on day 5!

Great bud! Woo HOO! Day 4 was a blur for me as I was in a hospital detoxing with chemical help for the first week. But day 8 was huge! I made it myself to do it, then decided nothing was going to convince me to go back to the prison I made of my life with alcohol.

Keep it up and if you are wanting it to be done for good you will.

James,
Don't worry, you will get your turn to return the support to others. That is where my head is at now. You are getting payback for all the folks, many now real friends, that tucked me under their wing for this journey back to light.
