Ugh...Sick
So it seems I've come down with a nasty stomach bug. 100+ temp, nausea, major stomach issues, cold sweats and clammy skin.
Honestly, it feels like I'm going through withdrawal. Which, of course, is impossible, considering I haven't had a drink in 290 days. But it's messing with my head a lot. Not really a trigger, but more like flashbacks to a dark time in my life, when weekly withdrawals and daily vomiting were a fixture. Additionally, when I was drinking and I got sick, a few (ok, several) shots made it all go away. Obviously, I can't do that anymore.
I've taken some tylenol and am going to attempt to keep some food down in a bit. Anyone have any tips for any sober tips for a sicky like me?

Plenty of cold water. Keep hydrated.
Its ok to be sick, if your drinking plenty of water, your body will vomit most of it back up, but some will absorb.
A small teaspoon of table salt placed under your tongue and allow it to dissolve naturally will stop the nausea.
Ibuprofen will bring the temperature down as well as a luke warm bath.

Triggers are triggers but we doin;t need to fire the bullet
you'll feel better soon, especially staying sober
The best thing to do when feeling ill stomach wise is, if it's more than a day or two, go see a Dr I think.
get well soon DD

Ginger ale a good idea dd, sorry you feel so bad!
I used to have the kind of withdrawals that chugging half a bottle of wine would "fix," but this flue is a totally different animal, dd. and you are a very different man after these 290 days. You'd put yourself in the hospital, think you know that.
Thinking of you!

The first time I got the flu (a few months sober) I SWORE I was hugover and had cravings for alcohol. I can't explain it or understand unless it has something to do with the virus affecting our nervous system, which is already screwed up from drinking. It passes and gets better as you get more sobriety.
Get well soon, DigDug! I feel for you...I'm feeling under the weather, too. Seems I have a cold/flu. Not as bad as yours, mostly just in my head right now (watery eyes, sneezing, etc). Plus I'm really worn out. And just like you said, I actually feel like I did when I was very hung over! It's weird but this is the first time I've really been sick since I quit drinking 15 months ago.
This weather and dark mornings/evenings don't help. There was a programme on tv other day saying we aren't getting enough sunlight/daylight on our skins this time of year. We call it the doldrums in uk x
I can relate. I 've had 2 sickness bouts since getting sober, both of which were horrendous. They were more scary than being sick when drinking because they weren't causes by drinking and I had no idea when they would end if that makes sense!
After,it just reinforced the craziness of the fact I used to make myself ill so often when drinking,
Hope you feel better soon
