A paradigm shift for the positive

One week ago, I was nursing a hangover after a relapse and feeling like I couldn't do anything right! I felt as though I had what ever the opposite of the Midas touch. I was deeply involved in my own head and all my worries and troubles were amplified a x 1000.

Well my head is starting to defog and I beginning to realize the way I frame things in my own mind is all wrong. I never frame things in a positive affirmative way. I found myself many times this week thinking in my mind, " wow you've been sober 2 days, give it time you'll drink again" or " oh now you're life is going to be a failure no matter what" and so forth. Extremely negative wayward thoughts to be having in my beginning week.

I've decided to shift my Paradigm, I am promising myself no matter how negative I perceive an event I will frame it in a positive way. Instead of " whoopy you're 2 days sober" I am going to say " atta boy 2 days sober keep it up, we deserve some ice cream", if something really bad happens like losing my job instead of " Ahh were in trouble you loser look what you've done now", instead something like " Woah, we lost our job, but we can keep our sobriety. Now is a good time to find a job I enjoy."

Well just my morning meanderings. I am just a guy trying to sober and positive now. Thanks for reading.

Excellent way of looking at the world. Just remember last week's hangover and how drinking will only make things worse.
I think I might try your thought process, I could use it today.

Like it... That was one of my New Years resolution (hate that term for some reason), too just have a more positive attitude about things in life. Your attitude is a conscious decision that you can control.

Yes, I love this post! What you put out there will come back to you. When we're drinking we tend to lost sight of the positive, and I know I had to re-train myself to use positive self-talk.
