1st post

So glad I found this forum. I'm really trying to get my drinking under control. I'm so envious of people who can enjoy a single glass of wine, or a cold beer after the game, but I can't. I'm all in when it comes to drinking and can't shut it off. My kids are in their early teens now and I've got to set a better example. I come from a long line of hard drinking Irishmen and don't want to end up like my Dad and Grandfather. I'm here because I'm realizing that I can't ever be a one drink person, I have no control once it starts.

Looking forward to getting some support from this group.

I can't stop either unless I stop COMPLETELY- which IO did just over 100 days ago. Outside of having the flu, I have never felt better! Welcome!

I wish I'd admitted I could never have just one. I spent decades trying to do just that - and my life was in chaos when I found SR. It's so good to be free of it. You can do this.

Welcome, sdown. I also think it's good that you have become aware of your pattern regarding drinking and what your family heritage might impose on it. Yes you can do a lot of things to try and beat this and to educate your kids as well. But please start with you and make a plan for yourself!
