Day 41 - Went to the Doctor
Day 41 - Went to the Doctor
Well... decided waiting three more weeks for my 'normal' appointment with my doctor was too long. Not because I feel bad but because the little things and anxiety driving me crazy. Went to the Doctor (first time since getting sober) and we talked a long time. Put all the 'cards' on the table. Blood taken and all the tests being run. My hope is they come back ok...but either way now I will know what the status is. I don't have symptoms of cirrhosis or any advanced ALD so my fingers are crossed. But as the doctor said, the treatment for all is to stop drinking which I have done. We have had this discussion before "Bill, you have to stop" but this time I am fighting harder to win and keep that AV out of the front seat here. The exam and the million questions didn't point to any major issues. Only symptom is some dull back pain that comes and goes and is gone more than it is there. After blood results I go back in 3 weeks which was already scheduled but now is part of my back on the sober track plan with doc.
So...other than that... 41 days and a doctor visit and physical behind me.
Some anxiety over what test results will be...but even that is less than not knowing.
Feeling pretty good about today... looking for a good tomorrow.

All - Thanks for the quick responses and support. I do feel better having gone. Nothing is for sure but although anxious still feeling good. I decided to go today basically because of advice and support from folks here. Glad I did. And my life motto that have adopted from advice here as well... Cant not change yesterday but do control today and can influence tomorrow.
Bill, you're right, you can't go back and change what was and there is no sense in beating yourself up. Good for you for taking the initiative and going to the dr and being honest.
