Looking forward to a sober day
I've just been faced with a very high stress situation, my first thoughts are usually to drink to get through it.
Few ups and downs lately too, even thoughts that I've already wasted so much youth drinking (I'm mid 30s now) and I'm reminded of all the lost opportunities - new people, places, experiences etc.
But I'm not going to drink today, I'll handle this situation sober. And what's done is done I guess, that's just the harsh truth I suppose. - sorry just need to get this out there!

Kys, don't beat yourself up over the past. I think we can all admit to doing things while intoxicated that we are not proud of, at least I can. I wish I had quit when I was in my mid 30's, your life is just beginning! You have a lot to live for and many more opportunities will be there for you, if you are present to receive. You have made a great, life-altering decision that may alter the course of your life, congratulations!
All that said, I had to finally tell myself to stop looking back at the lost opportunities and look forward to what I can do now that I'm sober. The past is the past. That's not to say we should completely forget the past since that's why we decided to work for a better future.
Hang in there!
for many I know in AA in their 50s and 60s have your same thoughts
that would be twenty or thirty extra good years for you
that
you need not give to the liquid devil
