This is a great place to start, Bolt. It helps to share a little of your story, if you're willing. Are you a binge drinker or daily drinker? How long? Have you tried to stop before? Do you have friends/family for support? There are no judgements or harsh words here, only kindness, experiences of our own, and words of encouragement. If you want sobriety, we are all here to support each other.

I put the "plug in the jug", detoxed at home, and used AA meetings for about 6 months until I felt I had some sober footing. I visit SR everyday and read a lot. I try to post to help others by sharing my experiences and it is working for 16 months of a sober life. I choose to live sober and that is the greatest motivator for me. It ain't easy but it's worth it.

Like the others said, you sure have come to the right place, Bolt. These forums made all the difference for me. It wasn't easy, but I'm so glad I made the effort and didn't give up; I had no idea how much easier and enjoyable life would get once I broke free of the bottle's gravitational pull. I bet you end up feeling the same way.
welcome aboard Bolt.... like others have suggested, I'll suggest getting out to AA and attending some meetings, regularly.
That's what's helped most for me both now and in the past. When I wandered too far or too long from the meetings - I wound up right back where I was, and then some.
This forum has been a gift also - because anytime I'm feeling isolated in my challenges, "different", alone, shameful.... I can instantly jump on here and be reminded of how many others I share this path with and how many reasons I have to not drink.
Best of luck and you CAN do it.
