Sobriety Date
Sobriety Date
I Know this has been debated on these boards and other places, but I'm curious everyone's opinions. Do you consider your sobriety date the day/time you last drank or 24 hours after that last drink? I've found a lot of sobriety calculators ask for the date/time you had your last drink and count up from there. This is obviously a bit trivial, but it's bothering me . Thanks.
i consider my sobriety date the day i made the commitment and followed through -- ii imagine it could be different for anyone - but to me it seems like -- if you were sitting in a bar and said "to hell with this - i cant do it anymore " and left right there - id say that was your sobriety date -- if you woke up one morning hungover/half drunk ,naked with dog shampoo in the living room with the stove on and said and did the same thing - id say that was it ...
in short - if you had made the decision and did not drink or use after that - then i think you are free to decide what is most fitting for your "actual date" ... who is anyone else to tell you otherwise ....

I went with 1st day non drinking and using and I only count total days both clean and sober.
Alot of people have 2 dates. One for booze and one for drugs. That doesn't really suit me and I think if you are doing one or the other since you quit the one you have not been clean.
For example I know someone who has been off alcohol for 3 years but used cocaine till they quit a yr later but they go with the 1st date.
For me that would not be honest to myself and myself alone but I guess some don't care. Not my recovery. I run an honest program.

I have used the same method as Deeker, whole days.
But I have two dates though – smoking is a separate date.
I still drink tea and coffee – and I am keeping those two stimulants.
I did not pay that much attention to the dates in the beginning – but I am looking forward to that I have been of smokes for 100 days.
The dates to matter to me

My last drink was the 6th December 2012 so I class the 7th December as my sobriety date.....Same as my last cigarette was 31st December 2013 but my quit date is 1st January 2014.......It's just how my brain works lol.

I count it as the first day that I am physically sober. I had my last drink at about 3am on the 2nd January, slept and when I woke up I was still drunk and sobered up during that day so Im counting day 1 as the 3rd January.
My last drink was on a Friday night, but it was 2/3am before blacking out, the following day nursing a hangover, I made the decision to be Sober.
That Saturday I consider my Sobriety date, regardless of drinking in the early hours of the morning, the previous night. I had gone to bed and woken up in what I considered a new day, that day was my first Sober day!!
