feeling overwhelmed
I'm new to seeking help online. I can't find any local meetings in my area so I decided to try online. I'm a suffering alcoholic that has had my life affected in just about every area and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. :tongue-ti
Hi Tracy
Welcome to Sober Recovery. This is a good place to be if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. People here are in the same boat and we try to help ourselves and others stay clean and sober.
I am assuming you looked for an AA meeting? Myself and other's will see if we can't find one for you. But you have taken the first step, congratulations!
Keep wandering around the boards and posting.
My name is Kellie and I am an alcoholic extraordinaire

Tracy;
Welcome to SR! It is a great place to get support.
I found this link that may help you find a local f2f meeting. See if it helps and go and get a sponsor.
http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org/...Office/in.html
Also, this is a link to read the Big Book online. If you are like me, you will want to get your own book, so you can write notes and mark your favorite spots, but, this is a good start, anyway!
http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/
Finally, there is a link to SMART recovery - self management and recovery training. It is an alternative to AA and NA, and very helpful to some people.
http://www.smartrecovery.org/
Find out what works; what helps YOU. I always say, one size does not fit all! (And get in a lot of trouble for it too! LOL!)
I wish you much luck. Others will be around to guide you better than I can. My son is an addict; that is my affiliation to SR, and it is a GREAT site for information and support. Check out the Alcoholism and AA threads; be sure to read the power posts at the top.
Shalom!
PS; in the alcohol section, there is a thread for arguholics. LOL! Just want you to be aware so you won't go there by mistake. You may get an eye opening reception! LOL!

Welcome Tracy
Here's the link to the online meetings and chats here....

You've reached the point where you are sick and tired of being sick and tired. That is a good beginning. I'd suggest going to the AA forum and reading the powerposts.
There's lots of help for you....... AA is but one. After I post this, I'll edit it to include a list of AA alternatives, tho I personally go with AA.
You are not alone!

Tracy32, I am pretty new here also, and I like seeing the word "try" in your post. I tried and tried to quit drinking, but could not do it on my own. Getting help has always been hard for me, but after accepting that I was an alcoholic, it was really critical for my recovery. I have been sober for almost nine months now, so there is hope!
Take care and welcome!
