Happy New Year all. I managed to get a day of sobriety in. I went to the special step meeting today. It was interesting. For some reason I left the meeting feeling a bit odd and unsettled. It was a good meeting and the discussion was about the first AA step. I got the names of some other women in the meeting and we're planning to get together for coffee. I just feel kind of weird and vulnerable and uncertain. It is hard to describe. I don't know why I feel like this.

Hi 2bhappier. I think quite a few of us experienced unexplained changes in mood in the early days and weeks (or at least more and larger changes in mood than is normal for life anyway). Try not to be be too worried by it. I think it's useful to just make a mental note that these things happen and then you feel better and brighter another day.

I've just finished reading a book of a pilgrim walking the Camino de Santiago (a pilgrim route of hundreds of miles in Northern Spain) and it seems that is quite common among pilgrims - people just break down in tears without really knowing why. There can't be many more significant, or better, pilgrimages than walking in sobriety after perhaps years of drinking. I guess if people on the Camino can frequently break down and cry just from breaking their usual routine of life to walk a pilgrim trail, it's not surprising that we can feel odd as we walk our own pilgrimage of the sober life.
