Motivation Out of Nowhere
Hi-
I've been struggling with motivation over the past few months since I got sober. I think I've been so overwhelmed with dealing with the new found emotions and how to occupy my time that I've had NO desire to work on my physical health.
I told myself one thing at a time and it's ok to work on just staying sober and repairing my screwed up mind.
So a couple days ago out of nowhere I finally had the motivation to start working out and it makes me feel sooo much better and grounded. Now I'm determined to lose the weight I gained while drinking and can't believe it took me five years of promising myself I would work out to actually do it!
Anyways, just wanted to share that if you're overwhelmed and struggling, the motivation does come! I'm shocked, but very relieved and happy.

I find just walking keeps me out of a funk, and some days I push myself, because I want to RUN!!! When I am feeling blue, I figure I might as well do something easy... and walking is easy.
Just like the phrase "no one ever woke up sober in the morning and said, gee I sure wish I had drank last night", there is, "No one ever came home from a brisk walk and said gee, sure wish I hadn't of done that" Exercise releases brain chemicals, the same ones we got by drinking or drugging. These chemicals are important to every human on earth. We were just cheating to get them by catching a buzz to get them.
