One month today! But still sad...
Well, I have one month today!
I am excited, obviously, but also sad. I binge drank and so I thought I was shielded from many of the problems that a lot of alcoholics experience, like family and health issues. Turns out that that simply isn't true. The extent of the issues is even now coming to light with kid behavior problems and my health.
But, I am so glad that I am really seeing the damage for what it is and I hope that it will influence me to stop drinking once and for all. Here is hoping!

Congrats that is awesome!
I drank everyday but called myself a functioning alcoholic. I thought the same as you. That since I did not lose it all that perhaps my recovery would be easier. I have found that not to be the case.
That is okay though. I still take it one day at a time.
You are sober today and that is what is important. Take each day and each issue one at a time. It does get better. Everything is going to be okay

Great work- 1 month! I'm only a few days ahead of you, and I have yet to feel the joy, elation, ect that I've heard about. I too have lots of regrets-lost time, failed goals, and, yes, not being the parent I wanted to be. But that changes NOW. We can't change the past, but we can be better right now, today. Sobriety, even with the realizations of past damage, is so much better-it will yield a much brigther future. Onward!
