New with Three Days
Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I have three days, but immediately prior to that I went 20 days without drinking.
I am 43 years old. I've been drinking over 20 years. Other than when I was pregnant with my son and nursing him (nine years ago), the 20 days was the longest I have gone without drinking for many, many years...
I have been on and off with my drinking for the last year, but when I do drink, I have the right side ache that many of you talk about and my color looks off. I also have night sweats on the days that I don't drink.I'm here because my body cannot continue to handle my drinking. Although my labs are astonishingly normal, I know that it will not last.
I am blessed with an incredibly wonderful life and I want to be around to live it.
Looking at the site for over year now, I know that it's a forum of incredibly supportive people. So, I just wanted to say hello.

Congrats on your sober time! You will find this forum to be very helpful...especially on those tough days!
I am almost 8 months sober, and SR has gotten me through some tough spots. You can do this!

Thank you for your responses and support! Whether you know it or not, you all have encouraged me for so long. I'm glad that I've finally and formally joined the group. As Thepatman said, I've chosen life, and all of you have played a great part in my choice!

Welcome Wordsworth. Glad to have you. I remember during my first few days sober, I was feeling so out of sorts, lost, confused. I almost posted here that I felt, "the blank misgivings of a creature moving about in worlds not yet realized." Sound familiar?
