Amazing Disease
Amazing Disease
Well, my wife and I are making Christmas gifts this year for friends and family.
We are wood burning sayings that are meaningful/pondering to a person, with a question at the end of them. Anyway I was 3/4 of the way through the one for my dad and I accidently burned the letter G in God upside down!..lol.. The reason I am writing this is that normally when I was using I would have freaked out over it, got mad, probably would have treated my wife like crap after and who knows what other acts of stupidity would have occurred.
The disease is amazing because if I would not have admitted to myself I am an Alcoholic, and realized through working the steps in my everyday life, I am a person who makes mistakes. There is no need to be a perfectionist anymore, my wife, family and friends will accept my upside down G as mark of personalization in my gift.
I guess what I am saying is that when we all want this Holiday season to be perfect, It always wont be, and that's perfectly fine. We just need to learn to pick ourselves back up, get back on the right path and keep learning from our mistakes, loving ourselves in the process because each of us are unique and that's what makes us special.
Have a Great Holiday!!
Matt
