hi again

Hi, i'm not new exactly I posted a few times before but i think that was about a year ago and I've definitely been drinking more/worse than that since, been in hospital about 8 times this year alone, it's ridiculous.
Just got out again last night, wasnt one of my worst benders and minimal withdrawal/prescribed valium
Guess I just came here because dr recommended some support and i'm not feeling up to talking to people in person yet.
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this,
Thanks for listening
ps i'm 23, this year was the first time things were really messed up by drinking (used to be able to hide/control a bit more, this time messed up uni a bit)
thanks

Welcome back to the Forum!!

You'll find plenty of support here, at 23yrs old realising something has to change is very admirable!!

Hi. Good for you for trying to do something and your awareness for such a young person is admirable. I wish you well and please sort the uni thing out. You say you messed up a bit, so hopefully you can still pull it out of the bag. I do feel for you, there are a lot of drinkers at uni. I really hope you can sort things out (I am a mum - does it show?) xxxx

Hi Immri. Welcome to SR. I'm 28 and wish I'd had the insight you have at 23. Is there people you can talk to at uni about the trouble you're having? I know there was quite a bit of support available at my university - I even had some free counselling for my depression at one point.

Welcome (back) to SR. I'm 34 and have been addicted to alcohol since I was 18, my only regret is that I didn't find SR sooner. I find it helps to sign in every day and post.

Hi Immri. You're definitely in the right place. Keep coming back, keep reading, and keep reaching out for help. I agree with the earlier poster: if you're at university, chances are they offer some free counseling services for students.

Glad you're back.

Welcome back!

Alcoholism is a progressive disease and it does get worse, as you've found. I hope you find support here and keep reading and posting.

It's good to see you immri.

I wish I'd seen what alcohol was doing to me when I was your age. My whole life would've turned out completely different. Glad you are giving this another go.
