Welcome CopanoBay, are you looking to quit going forward?

If so I'd get checked out by a doctor to ensure withdrawal doesn't become life threatening, in the short term plenty of fluids and rest!!

Welcome to SR. Is your plan to quit drinking?

Mine would be to see a doctor and detox under medical supervision. Withdrawals are serious business.

I did a seven-day, inpatient detox followed by ninety AA meetings in ninety days.

Not to frighten you, but the shakes can be a precursor for more dangerous detox territory such as D.T's and seizures.

Based upon the volume and quantity you have stated you have been consuming, your safest measure is to detox professionally or at the very least, see a doctor and be honest with your consumption level.

Please be well.

I know it can be scary and expensive. But, friend, it sounds like you can't NOT afford it...

My detox treatment was free. Look up the Salvation Army in your area.

Many areas have free or low cost/sliding payment detox available. The salvation army is one of many options.

Think of it this way - can you afford the alternative if you don't get help and something goes wrong?

It really is horrible and I can still feel what you are going through. I always home detoxed but was so ill, I was probably in a lot of trouble, but got lucky. Try and see someone but meanwhile, as suggested above, plenty of fluids and rest. I really feel your pain xxxx

Hi Copano Bay - there is no home treatment for the shakes I'm afraid.

There are a lot of free or low cost clinics around - if there's one in your local area you might get some medical advice there?

Free/Low-Cost/Sliding-Scale Clinics
The 10377 clinics in this database are free, low cost, low cost with a sliding scale based on income, or offer some type of financial assistance.
2-1-1 Call Center Search

2-1-1 provides free and confidential information and referral. Call 2-1-1 for help with food, housing, employment, health care, counseling and more. Learn more about your local 2-1-1 by looking it up here.
Wishing you the best,
D
