Bring it on Monday!
Bring it on Monday!
I get everything together this morning. Feel good and not a fat day. Excited to get to work. Bundle up. Car cleaned off of the foot of snow from yesterday.
And the damn thing won't start. The zero degree weather got to it.
Bring it on Monday! This sober person can whip you with one hand.
Had this been a while back I would be in bed with the covers over my head. Asking the world to stop doing this to me.
Have my laptop and will work from home until I can get this corrected.
The choice to remain sober yesterday has yielded patience today.
Now... Let's get some coffee going shall we?

Trying to remember that I got sober once and I can get clean from pain pills the same way. One day at a time and only with the help of my Higher Power. I don't have to make the same mistakes I made trying to quit drinking. It won't take me years of pain and heartbreak. Mornings weren't made to be dreaded but embraced as a new beginning. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to express my feelings, doubts and anxieties. These feelings of fright and depression are way too familiar.

I can relate! Dropped my daughter at a Christmas party last night . . .ran outta gas on the way home (gas gauge is broken). Luckily i was able to quickly pull off the road, call hubby and he brought me gas. I kept thinking . . .i think i have more patience now . . .it barely phased me. Little things like that used to set me into a panic. I am really starting to see sobriety as a blessing. Thx for sharing Weasel.
Hey Weasel. I have to check those snow cams. We are very cold too but my car thankfully started. At least you can work from home while you figure it out. You can curl up under the blankets AND work from home.
I'm off work this week and am taking advantage of the free time to clean, dawdle here on SR, and hit meetings during the day. Gets me motivated to get out of the house.

Good 'tude! I would've gone to get a bottle first, then try to deal with getting the vehicle started back in the day. All too familiar with winter storms and the nasty tricks they have up their sleeves!
Pete... How did the rest of the day go? Actually because I was calmer and had a clear head... I called roadside. They said two hours. I took a deep breath and gave thanks I was at least at home warm. They showed in less than an hour say they had 70 calls. I thanks him.
Then I road right over to the auto enter and asked for a new battery. I drove up and was the next in line. Got my battery in less than an hour. When I left the place was packed with cars outside all needed similar work.
I was at work a little after 10 am.
Overall I think I could have made the day suck. But I forgot it even happened by the time my boss bought everyone lunch.
I KNOW for a fact that in my past I would not have been able to handle this simple task. I would have been woozy, tired, sad, and given up. Called in sick again.
Ready for work again this morning. New battery in the car.... And it seems a new battery in me!
Oh yeah! Another 3-6 inches today!

I hate winter! So far my truck has started every day (bought a new battery last winter). It got down below zero F for the first time in November, which sucks. But you're right- stuff that used to be an excuse to get drunk is just an inconvenience now that I'm sober.
