I Believe I Can Fly

Hi All!!

I know I will get through each day. The most important kick start this time around was "soberrecovery".

On another note - I dont know why but woke up this morning with the song

"I Believe I Can Fly".

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I'm leaning on the everlasting arms

If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away

I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly, I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly

See I was on the verge of breaking down
Sometimes silence can seem so loud
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me

Nice post. Music has played an important role in my recovery. I know it's just me, my perceptions and experiences, but I hear messages about sobriety in so many songs these days. Perhaps this is becuase there is something universal about struggles and overcoming them.

Bette Midler's WIND BENEATH MY WINGS
was my early sobriety song I remember,
when I attended an AA convention here in
Baton Rouge on the 3rd day which was a
Sunday Speaker's Meeting as I listened
to her share her story ending with that
song.

It touched me emotionally and profoundly
that I will carry that experience with me
each day sober for the past 23 yrs. of many
one days at a time added together to get
me where I am today. Happy, Honest,
Joyous and Free.
