Early sobriety

33 days in and I am ready for bed by 8pm AND I sleep soundly until 7am!
Does this have anything to do with new sobriety?

I noticed my sleep was a lot better after I'd been sober for a while. One of the benefits of living sober, I guess.

Welcome 30days! Great job on your 33 sober days.

I know I was absolutely exhausted when I finally got off it. I had beaten myself up physically for years - and it was so good to have some undisturbed sleep. Many have trouble sleeping in the early days - so it's great you don't have that problem.

Your body is playing catch up from all the abuse. I remember being a few weeks in and the sleep starting coming naturally. I used to wake up a lot during the night to even the smallest of noises but now I sleep right through. So thankful! Enjoy the sleep!

welcome 30days

experiences vary - but once I got over the initial insomnia I had I found I needed an afternoon nap for a while

Hopefully things will find a normal level for you soon

I was very tired in my first month and a half. Now I just like to go to bed early because I like to sleep. (I had forgotten how wonderful real sleep can be!)

5 years sober and tonight I went to bed at 7:30PM. I'm just bored.

Yes boredom sees to be an issue as well.

I find that I am tired and ready for bed earlier but get up before my alarm in the morning. I don't think it is that I am actually tired but rather bored. I filled up a lot of time getting my requisite amount of drinking in before crawling into bed. Read a lot, watched a lot of television, etc. but always accompanied with alcohol consumption. I have slowly been working towards doing those things and enjoying those things again, minus the alcohol. Retraining my brain.

Based on my experience of sobriety last year (I blew 10.5 months in August) it does even out eventually. it took me a few months last time. Just slogging through now, knowing my body will adjust at some point.

My experience is exactly the same 30 days. I sleep at least 10 hours a night and could very easily nap all day if I didn't have to work. I have been sober 6 weeks. On the plus side my skin looks better and my teeth are whiter. It's worth being tired rather than hungover. I can't believe I coped going to work as hungover as I was. Hope you feel more awake soon. I guess our bodies need the rest. Take care

Well done 30days. Sleep did fluctuate quite a bit when I was tapering down and then in the first few weeks of complete abstinence. It has gradually settled down though I do like the occasional afternoon nap

Sounds about right, with no hangover in the morning and a good sleep the previous night, I stay fresh throughout the day until 8/9pm in the evening before I then start to feel tired again.

. . . Long may the cycle continue!!

I just noticed in the past week I am not as tired so much. 8 weeks in (with 1 slip) and I don't need as much sleep as I did at first. I was sleeping 11 hours a night solid in early sobriety. Enjoy it and let your body have it, you deserve it.
