Face to face with booze...
I decided to give myself a fighting chance of staying sober this weekend and decided to visit my mum and stepdad. I went to get a cold drink and came across a pack of beers I'd left in the fridge. I could feel them going down my neck at just looking at them. I saw the rest of my night pan out in my head - the trip to the shop for more booze and then round to a friend's who lives nearby to finish the night\morning off. The sight of the alcohol and the power it has over my brain made me mad. I took out the beers and poured them down the sink.
Good for you. I've poured more booze down the drain than a moderate drinker drinks in a lifetime. Never stopped me. The store was always willing to sell me more.
So, good going but, be on awares, there will be temptation.
Playing it out in your head was an excellent idea. That's what I do and it's kept me sober two years eleven months. You can do it too. Well done.

Thanks for the replies. I know pouring it down the sink is no long term solution, but it was the first time I'd seen further than just drinking it and to hell with the consequences.
1:24a.m on a Sunday morning and I'm sober. I'm shopping online and treating myself to an album and a book with some of the money I'd have blown tonight.
