What I left behind when I fled from an active addict.

I had a really good recipe for some appetizers tooked away in one of my cook books. Then I realized I had left my cook books behind when I left/fled my 13 year relationship from an active addict.

I chuckled to myself because I had remembered to take my al anon and Courage To Change books, obviously they were far more important to me at the time.

It got me thinking about what else I may have left behind and this is what I came up with.

I left behind my low self esteem.

I left behind my doubts and procrastatation.

I left behind that pit in my stomach, you know the one that grows bigger the closer you get to home because you never know what you are going to face.

I left behind that person I had become and didn't like very much.

So today I am going to go out and buy some new cook books, find a good recipe for appetizers to bring to a holiday party that I am looking forward to going to.

I know it's not easy to walk away but sometimes that really is our only choice.

Let go and live or hang on and be dragged. The choice IS always ares.

Have fun buying new cookbooks! I love a new cookbook.

And try Pinterest for all the recipes you could ever imagine, for free. Soooooo many good ones there.

Most importantly, congratulations on your freedom from all that baggage. Thanks for sharing.

It cannot have been easy leaving a 13 year relationship but it would have been harder to stay.

Your recovery is shining, your life sounds healthy and wonderful today.

Hugs
