drinking question
Love that, nonsensical...LOL....Mine was vodka. I liked wine too...hated beer, but at the end this time....I was drinking beer all day long, every day.....go figure! And....I am not sure it matters what our drink of choice was. For me, it was always "romanticizing" the drink....
I started off with gin and got off my face with that more times than I can count! Brandy, too, when the mood took me But there were occasions when I could have one or two and walk away.
But wine! White wine was my downfall I'm just very grateful that I didn't discover it until my late thirties!

Wine here, but i once thought i could switch to something else and not drink as much. I dont really like beer but if thats all we had in the fridge i would sometimes drink it. I know its best for me to stay away from alcohol altogether.
Well, first I'd have a beer and then I'd have a few more. Then I'd open another beer and when I finished that one I'd go and get another. I'd gulp that down and take the cap or pop the top off the next one. Then I'd make another trip to the refrigerator. Sometimes when I got into the fridge I'd just pull out two. The first one would be gone so quickly it cut down on the time having to go to the fridge which interrupted the important work I was doing.
You get the picture.
It was disgusting.

Beer was my choice, until I had about a dozen and then started to gag when I had another one. Then and only then would I switch to Vodka and soda. After two or three stiff ones, it was strait up. Grey Goose was always a nice night cap. Really helped to create that splitting skull cramp by 2 AM. Then the acid reflux would begin cause all I ate for dinner was a bowl of salty cashews or beer nuts.
Every bartender in town knew my beer of choice. MGD with a frosty glass, New beer = new glass. If the bar was busy I would order two at a time so I didn't have to wait 90 seconds to get another one.
24 days sober and I feel freakin great. I told that POS friend of mine I didn't want any further contact. He still phones me 4 or 5 times a day to see if I want to stop at the pub on the way home, but I ain't taking the calls anymore. Blocked the number.

Years ago I would drink a bottle of Apple wine each evening.
After awhile it did not seem to have the same affect, so I would mix a half pint of vodka with each litre.
Then I would wake up the next morning and wonder why I felt so bad.
Thought I had conquered my drinking problem by switching to mostly beer for the next 30 years.

Used to drink hard alcohol. ALOT of it and then got sober. Stayed that way for quite awhile. Then thought I was more mature, older, got my act together etc. Started drinking wine. Seemed so sophisticated or something. Drank so much of I literally fell of the toilet and slammed my head right of the bathtub wall and took the whole shower curtain with me. Not real sophisticated since I can't stop a glass or two. More like a bottle or two on most nights. Grateful to be sober today.
