$15,000 later . . .
Extremely rough estimate here, but i have been a weekend bottle of wine girl for about the past 20 years with a year off for each pregnancy and one year of abstinence. Having said that, i figure I've spent roughly $15,000 on wine throughout my lifetime. Just curious if anyone else has done the math? Thats a reality check!!

Hmm. Between co-pays to doctors and ER bills for obtaining pills.....and rehab....and lawsuit from one hospital for unpaid bills...my rough estimate is......
*computing* *computing* *computing*
.......Close to $16,000.
*sigh* I know there is no point in getting upset about the past, but to think what a phat vacation one could take with that money...

Factoring in the surgery I had while injuring myself when drunk, the thousands of dollars in beer I've spent, going out to bars, cover charges, losing my wallet while drunk, I must be in the $100,000 range myself.
I've never had the guts to do the math. Pathetically, I drank the most I ever have when we were having major financial problems to "deal" with it. I have noticed more money in our bank account, though since I have quit the last couple of months!
To me the most important figure is the amount I have spent on beer since I quit - which is $0. I can't change the past, and I know that I drank more than I should have so that's enough for me.

I was a cheap at home drinker.
$200.-$300. per month.
when i first began sobriety, i made it a point to take that $$ and pay bills with it.
Not only did i dig out of debt, I have knocked off a good chunk of my mortgage, have a new bathroom and soon a new kitchen. I have improved my credit to qualify for low interest rates when i do take a loan. (new car)
i can be a lot more focused on bills and paying them sensibly when i'm not in a constant foggy hangover and sleep deprived.
lol $$$ is a good motivator.
