Soberday turkey day

I have legit rx for norco 10 but was up to 10 pills a day at the most. I went cold turkey on thanksgiving, making this day 6.

I took Ativan to help, but the RLS and the panic attacks were nothing to joke at. The only thing I would eat were Oreos. I took some baths but pretty much tossed and turned for three days straight until I felt lucid.

On day 6 now and I'm contemplating getting a pain management doctor so I can get back on the pills

The pills didn't just help with my pain, which has subsided significantly with other rheumatoid medications, it helped with my stress, my social anxiety, my will to do things. Those pills helped me get up in the morning. The constipation is no laughing matter but I was getting that bested with Fiber-cal and miralax in my morning coffee. I can barely sleep now. There is no comfortable position and my mind make believes I have a spot in my back that really hurts. Tossing and turning and RLS at 1am sucks. Oh the diarrhea comes at the most surprising times!

I'm here because I want back on my pills. I'd tell my doctor I went ct but he's an old guy and would stop prescribing it. I've told him that the pills weren't working the same and he just nodded his head. I don't know if my pain level is high enough to go back on hydro, or if I want the fringe benefits.

What have some of you done in similar situations to prevent going back on pills?

I don't know what to do but this feeling like crap all day is something I knows I don't want to live forever with.

Help!

I offer a couple of things to consider:

this is day 6. It's probably you're still going through some degree of withdrawal. It would be a mistake to assume this is the way it will always be.

secondly, I think we can sometimes get fixated on the idea that it's a particular drug or it's nothing, especially if you're in pain.

There must be other pain relief options open to you rather than to go back on the one you've abused.

Seeing a pain management guy is a great idea - but be honest about your past - otherwise you're pretty much headed back the way you came, or even worse.

to SR! I agree with Dee. There must be an alternative to going back on the pills. A pain management specialist is a great idea. I wish you the best as you try to find a solution.

I tried making an appointment with a pain management doctor and it won't be until January. That will give me some time to contemplate what life is like off of narcotic drugs. Taking the pills is so habitual. I'm so used to taking some pills right before bed because it helped with my minor pains and relaxed me to a point I could go to sleep. Going to bed is the hardest part for me. I went to my psychiatrist and came clean and she prescribed me sleeping pills that don't work. They make me tired which affects my ability to think through why I'm feeling a certain way. You know what I mean? When I'm tired and I feel an emotion I immediately apply a negative reason to it, not that I'm just tired. So I tried these new pills last night and they opened a whole new can of worms! With no sleep, I still have to get up bright and early and get the kids up, which is hard to do because they are so young and needy!!! Well, as of right now I'm going day by day. I got some new vitamins so I'm currently taking, a multivitamin, b12, vitamin c. Magnesium, vitamin d, and folic acid (for a medication). I got some l-theanine but I don't know about that stuff! Anything else you recommend for the blues .
