Holiday Treats

I just spent $50 on treats from Cost Plus World Market. This store has lots of European delights! With the amount of desserts that I eat now, this will last me a week or two. When I was drinking, $50 maybe bought enough for one or two nights.

When I quit drinking, I was fortunate enough to lose 20 pounds; I ate really crappy foods along with all the alcohol. But I never indulged in delicious desserts, too many calories I always told myself. Low and behold I was getting plenty with the alcohol! I have now learned to eat my fruits and veggies (and actually like them) as well as enjoy really good sweets!

Bring on the yummy treats!!

Eating simple sugars are very instrumental in recovery/early sobriety. Our bodies got so used to that easy sugar. I have gained weight since I quit drinking, then again I was grossly malnourished. Savor and enjoy your treats I like your analogy about the cost of our drinking.

Enjoy the treats! I was eating sugar like a madman for about the first month. Even doing that, since my other eating habits improved and I was no longer dumping poison into my body, I have managed to lose about 15 pounds in three months.

Congrats on the improved lifestyle and enjoy those treats!
