2 weeks Down the Tube

I had been doing so well! Then, I let my excuses get the best of me over a lonely Thanksgiving. My 2 weeks of sobriety is no more. I drank a few days in a row.
This is hard.
This was pointed out to me by my supporting husband, and his worry for me and where this could be headed.
I'm, starting again today, and hope that I can do it. I've tried so many times. The reasons not to drink out weigh the reasons I should.....by far! I'm to the point where drinking isn't even fun, and the guilt that follows is hard to swallow.
Here I go again...............

Hardly 2 weeks down the tubes. Those were two weeks well spent followed by a couple of days down the tubes.
This is hard.
Yup, everything worth doing is.

Good luck on your journey!

you are in the right place to get help from everyone here ... keep your chin up one day at a time ...

It is not how we weather the " STORM "
It is how we " Dance " in the rain

Good Luck. I know the feeling after falling off and it is not a fun place to be. I was just recently there and found this site and it has helped me more than words could explain. Just keep coming back here, take it a day at a time. That's all I am doing and I just restarted 6 days ago. We are not alone in this deal..!!!

"Fall seven times, get up eight"

At least you are recognizing it and picking yourself up. Have you thrown away all of your alcohol related items.. especially glasses, shot glasses, etc? That has helped me immensely.

You can do it.

Move forward, good to hear you plan to start sober anew today. Most importantly though, what at you going to do differently this time to prevent drinking? The holiday season is in full force now for a least another month so all the drinking options that were available over thanksgiving will still be here to choose.

Gonna bite my lip and not give in. I have to. I'm sick of drinking, and the shame and bs that comes with it. It's an ugly lonely place to be, and I want out. It's been so long since I've lived a life without alcohol. I'm ready to see life through sober eyes. Just hoping I can pull through and not give in to the excuses.

Hope is a fantastic thing, but I have found that being proactive and making a plan works better. The cravings will come. Knowing what you're going to do when they start can be very comforting.

Best of luck!

Nonsensical,

I love the graph. For this alcoholic I believe the graph is every bit as true for me at 1500 days as it is on day one. The only difference is that the drop in the graph is not as sharp. I need to work on my recovery on a daily basis. I am committed to doing the things that I need to do that will keep me sober today.

Hi tippy! Realizing you need to stop what you started and posting on here about it was huge. You can take that next step and not drink. Hang in there and keep reading and posting as much as you need to.

Thanks everyone.
It's been a really down day, so all your posts really help.
Drinking has sure lead to a real dark and yuck place. I was so proud during those 2 weeks, and I'm just really upset that I gave in. I've caught myself crying over and over about it today.

Tippy, I sure do remember the frustration and despair you're feeling. The guilt and shame can be overwhelming. But, the main thing is to learn and move on. Don't let yourself be put in the same situation again. Make a plan and move forward. Forgive yourself.

Try to keep your head up, Tippy. I think Nonsensical's word are very wise. I'm rooting for you.

Just try again and don't feel guilty, it is a dangerous emotion that should be saved for bad people (though many of them don't feel it.)
