getting antsy.....day 3 with a minor victory
getting antsy.....day 3 with a minor victory
On our way to my brother in-law's house. I'm really facing a craving now. About an hour left on our drive. I did already say to my mother in law not drinking when she was trying to decide how much wine to bring, so I feel like I've made that commitment, which is a huge deal. I'm just worried about me making it through dinner then blowing it later when we're back at my mother in-law's. It's hours from now, but it's a huge craving. I'm desperate enough to hope that if I eat lots of turkey, the triptifan will cure the craving.

Is there anyone you can call when the craving gets too much? just a 10min conversation with someone would let the craving pass!! . . . the backup plan would be to drink something non alcoholic, whatever you drink with the meal, stick to that throughout the whole night.
As a last resort if you have internet access, check into SR, and we'll keep giving you support until it's bedtime

Hang in there amandaw! You can do this. Keep logging back in to this site once you get there if you can. Try to remember how much worse drinking will make you feel tomorrow and how it doesn't help anything. Remember the awful headaches and going through withdrawal again. You're doing great at day 3 - stay strong!
Still driving. My husband's driving is giving me insane anxiety. We're on the 405 in thick traffic and he's trying to beat his dad who is in a different car. I'm going to kill him! Oh and in the background is my daughter's Barbie Christmas Carol movie. Trying to see the humor.
I have the SR app on my phone which I use a lot. I think I'll be fine at least until we leave to drive back home. I'm trying to remember my despair Monday and my hangover Tuesday.
Trying trying.
I tell my students to "use their tools" when they try to solve problems. I need to do the same.
I'm glad I have all of you.
