Bloating and Gas Buildup?
Hi all. I am on my third day of sobriety. My stomach is in a lot of pain right now. It is bloated, full of gas, and it hurts so much that its hard to stand up without slouching forward. Has anyone else experienced this when starting to sober up? I just can't imagine that this is actually a withdrawal symptom. I drink a tall boy of beer to a six pack a day, usually no more. If you asked me, that wouldn't be enough daily intake of alcohol to constitute such a painful and severe withdrawal symptom like I'm currently experiencing.
Anyway, just want to know if anyone else has had the same experience. I really want to stop this pain, and if it means having A beer, then so be it. I also have Tums, but I don't know if that will really help.

hard to say what's going on with you
but
a bloated belly that's also in pain is nothing to fool around with
you should get to a doctor ASAP
note
these signs shown at times can be very serious
a friend of ours just a few weeks ago
had his bloated belly drained (his liver was shot)
key word there (was)
he is no longer with us

Hi, I'm on day 6 of being sober. I drank on average about 8 cans of beer every evening. For the first few days I was gassy, and felt bloated, but I didn't have much in the way of pain.
If you're in a lot of pain see a doctor. It's not worth taking a chance!

Well, after I posted this last night, I went to bed. I just woke up, and my stomach feels totally fine, so hopefully it was something unrelated to my drinking. Also on a happy note, I did not resort to drinking to alleviate the pain. I am now on day 4
Great stuff on Day 4!
With regards the bloating, for the first 3/4 days sober I experienced something similar, and it also then subsided shortly after.
Having been to a doctor since (just a precaution to check blood pressure) he mentioned the digestive system needs to adapt from a mainly liquid with very little nutrients to one of plenty of fresh water and nutritious food . . . basically the healthy bacteria in the digestive system need to adapt, they basically freak out as they are required to now deal with what they are not used to!!
