In some regards the last 30-days seemed to take forever. I've was and still am dealing with a relationship loss, that's been tougher than not drinking. But dealing with the added emotional stress made me want to "escape" even more than usual, but I didn't, I kicked it's ass.
I have to say, I have grown more in this last 30-days than I had in the last 15 years. I feel really good about my new direction, and my resolve to continue on. I envisioned the life I wanted from the start, no more hurting people I love, no more unpredictable behavior, no more waking up and needing to "find out" from someone else what I had done the night before.
So far I have come a long way to being more calm, less irritable, less anxiety, less angry, etc. Still a lot of work left to get rid of, or manage those things, but I'm quite a bit more centered than I was a month ago.
I'd been planning to buy a used truck. I chose one yesterday, and will be picking it up today. It's a fairly inexpensive weekend rig for hauling dirt bikes, dump runs, hardware store runs, and pulling a trailer I don't yet own. It's pretty exciting to me, and a nice 30-day reward. Also can't wait to get my 30-day coin!
I'm doing this for me regardless, but I'm also hoping my new life direction will attract the girl I love to give me another chance. I don't expect this will happen anytime soon.

Yes, everyone tells me at around the 90-day mark things really start to gel. I'm looking forward to that and beyond. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the buzz, but like so many, I was paying too high a price too often to enjoy that. And for a weekend only drinker, I'm surprised to realize how much effect it had on my health. I've become far leaner, sleep better, and I used to need tums morning, noon and night. I haven't needed those at all in over 3-weeks now.

Got my 30-day coin tonight. In truth it's just another day like any other. But milestones are important, and I have to imagine the first 30-days is the hardest fought for most of us. And like many, my last drunk took from me more than I will ever let it take again. I hope with enough time and growth the girl I lost will give me another chance.
