12 weeks

I have 12 weeks of continuous sobriety today. It feels pretty good. Drinking feels good momentarily, but then I paid such a high price for that choice. Being sober feels better, the feeling is a bit more subtle but it is also much longer lasting.

Drinking just isn’t an option for me when things get rough or when I feel like celebrating. I have been working hard to replace this old behavior with new and healthier choices. I take my sobriety one day at a time, and getting this far feels like a small miracle to me. Being sober means living the kind of life that I want to live. It means that a bottle of poison no longer controls my destiny. Being sober means being free.

Thank you all so much for the support you have given me on this journey so far. I couldn’t have done it without you.
