New sober moment

Being able to respond in the negative when the doctor asks if you drink alcohol is just priceless, particularly after a decade of stating "just socially" but feeling like a liar (which, of course, I was!)

I have heard that doctors double the amount you tell them on their chart. It's nice to be able to say that you don't drink anymore!

Same here! It feels so good to say you're a non drinker.

Re: doubling the amount stated, I practiced criminal law for several years and my general rule when someone told me how much they'd had to drink was to double the amount for men and triple it for women. That have me a MUCH more accurate picture. ;-)

I had to take antibiotics recently and was warned very severely about the consequences of drinking any alcohol with them. Boy, did it feel good to say 'That's no problem - I don't drink!' I walked away with a huge smile on my face

I agree and have had this moment several times. It feels good to be honest and not feel guilty!
