tonight was tough

Just finished work and it was a really hard shift. The amount of bottles of drink I've sold n people who were drunk was very hard.
When I finished I went to my locker n got my bag n let's n drove home.
I'm now having a hot chocolate watching the walking dead.

Sounds cosy and safe. You made it home, well done. How many of those people you sold drink too will remember their Friday night, and be able to enjoy their Saturday. You are doing great.

I also struggled today (posted a thread earlier) so I know where you are coming from. Xx

You'll feel better than they do in the morning at least. I can't get the walking dead on my cable anymore I think I'll make myself a chocolate

Zgirl - God it must be impossibly hard to work in a bar or similar. I've heard of quite a few people online, in AA and in rehabs, who do the same.....have often thought it must sometimes feel like being in the Mouth of the Dragon or something. Or should that be, the Belly of the Whale? Whatever, hats off to you!!!

Tomorrow will be 30 days for me. I go to AA and have a sponsor but Fridays are tough. And I don't work around alcohol. Like someone said just think how some of those people you saw drinking will feel tomorrow. Hell, just think how some of them will look tomorrow! Wait you already said you were watching The Walking Dead. Lol sorry bit of sober Friday humor. Good job on staying strong.

Great job, Zombigirl,
For any nights similar to tonight, try some Romero or Fulci. Way more intense for focus than Walking Dead.

In recovery there will be good nights and bad nights , the bad ones are far fewer and less dramatic than when i was drinking .

stay strong ,

Bestwishes, m

Good going, ZG! I'm a chef, so I know how it feels to be working in "party central" while trying to be sober. It does get easier. It's hard to explain and maybe hard to believe, but eventually you "flip a switch" and it changes. At first when I smelled wine or bourbon my mouth would water...now the smell makes me feel like I'm going to be sick.

I work in a supermarket so it's really hard on n evening for some reason not so much through the day.
I'm proud of myself as I would normally wake up with a bad head on a Saturday.
I dreamt I drank on a night out n had one drink n was so drunk. I really hope the drink dreams will pass soon.
Today will be the hardest as my kids r staying out n my husband n I will get a film in n he will want a drink. I'm going to opt for some fruit juice n make myself a non alcoholic cocktail lol.
I can't believe it's a week since my last drink I am really proud of myself n u guys for helping me xxxx
