Sure is a wild ride of up's and down's in my experience at the beginning , keep on
It can be difficult to deal with life sober but it's worthwhile .
Hope you post again

I Remember being absolutely floored and shocked how intense the emotions came after years of numbing them away! It truly does get better!

I just got "the letter" from my GF breaking it off, 25 days in and the booze is the least of my pain. Don't think I've ever felt lower or more depressed. I share your pain.

Welcome elena, 26 days is an amazing accomplishment. Sorry to hear you are struggling a bit, but as others have said before me, it will get better, a lot better. Hold your head high, what you are trying to achieve is not easy. You go girl!!!!

Another one here from the uk. Well done on 26 days. That's a great effort. Your body will take a little time to adjust but let that take care of itself. You just need to focus on the most important job ie NO DRINKING. It will take a little time but try to be patient. Read on here. Everyone says it gets better. You have to believe and have faith that you are on the right path. Please keep posting. Good luck

NOJIMMY I am sorry to hear about your problems but you know as well as anyone that drinking will not make the problems go away and will not help you get through the problem. Things have a habit of working out for the best. PLEASE don't throw away your good work and effort.

to the family. Congrats on your sober days. Early recovery is a roller coaster of emotions but it does get better the longer you're sober. Hang on tight. You can do this.

I was feeling pretty good until I got close to my 30 day mark, then my emotions were all over the map. I was told that this is pretty common around this time (30 days, then 60 days, then 90 days, then 6 months, then one year). I am on Day 53 and I feel remarkably better. I don't mean to set you up for a self-fulfilling prophecy, but it helped me to know that what I was feeling was "normal" and would pass. It did, pretty quickly.

Welcome Elena,

It does get better. 26 days is great and you should be proud of that. I am on my second time around and am on day 8. But I can tell from my first time around that everything seems new and disconcerting during the first few months. Exercise helps and so does devoting oneself to mundane tasks. Cleaning, etc.

Keep up the good work and come here for support.

It's normal to feel that way - ups/downs. I spoke to my DR - that helped to get on some temp sleeping pills/antidepressant to get me few the first few months. Also, check out PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) just google it - lots of insight into what we are going through.
