My poor Mr. Cat has run out of time
My poor Mr. Cat has run out of time
I am just real sad, my little buddy, Mr. Cat, is very sick, he can hardly walk and won't eat. I think after seventeen or eighteen years his time here has finally run out. I have to take him in to the vet in a few hours and I don't think he is coming back with me, he's in pretty bad shape. I had to put his friend down just four months ago because she got real sick, too. It doesn't get any easier.
I won't be drinking today because I don't drink anymore. If I were still a drinker, this would be one of those "four-alarm fire" hangover events. But I quit, and whether or not bad things happen (and they kind of always do, that's part of life) has nothing to do with that decision. Totally unrelated things, no interaction, no connection whatsoever.
Guess I should add something positive.
Today is sober day no. 154 -- that's twenty-two weeks without a drink.
Blessings and safety to you and yours this holiday season

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Cat. The only flaw in our fur babies is that they just don't live long enough. Mr. Cat wouldn't want you to drink and I'm sure he helped you make it to day 154. Congratulations and (((HUGS))).

I also had to put down a 17 year old kitty, my buddy of so many years. I was trying to quit then but used it as an excuse to indulge myself. I thought I couldn't get through it without drinking. YOU know better. After 18 months sobriety, now I do too. God bless you.
I have returned. Things went about how I expected, except I was more of a wreck than I figured. Mr. Cat was (for once) well-behaved on the ride, you knew he wasn't feeling well when he didn't vociferously protest being in a moving car.
Thank you for your kind words. I like to think I'm a tough guy who doesn't need any help from anybody but I really appreciate your supportive posts today.
(any self-destructive urges will be channeled into blowing up my diet for a day or two, I guess that's pretty safe.. ice cream never gave me the urge to call up old girlfriends and give them a piece of my mind at 2 AM)

i am so sorry to hear about Mr. Cat....when you are ready, you could honor him by adopting another buddy or two?
they give us so much happiness and love...(as the owner of another new kitten who wakes me up promptly at 4:23AM most days cos it's time for EATING, racing and playing)

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I know how heartbreaking it is as my puppy died at the weekend. Your cat knows how much you love him and what a good life he has had with you. You also have some very wonderful memories. Good on you for not drinking through this difficult time
It is good that you are sober now so that you do not add to your cat's stress, and can do what is best for him.
My cat is on my lap as I type this, and he is purring a prayer for you.

I am so sorry to hear this. My kitty, brat, died 4 years ago in May and she would have been 20 that August. I understand how hard this is.
I'm glad that you're choosing not to drink. It really does only make it worse.
Again, I am so sorry to hear this
