Wanted to give an update-rehab

I will likely be entering rehab in the next few days. Not solid yet, but had to be carried home drunk from work yesterday. Finally admitted my problem to a few friends. I hope this gets better. I love and miss you all.

i. Don't wait too long. It's easy to forget the emotional and mental pain you cause yourself and others and dismiss the disease of alcoholism. (that is actually the largest part of alcoholism, the denial !)

Sometimes an episode like getting carried out of work, drunk, is the bottom we need to get ourselves into treatment. Many others of us who have been to a rehab center have experienced similar things, myself included. I highly recommend you bite the bullet on this rehab thing, and do it.

Thanks for sharing today, all the best, and good luck.

I'm not sure If I still have the job. The sad part is that I love my job-it is a dream. I confided in one girl (the one who brought me home). I asked her if anyone could tell that I drink at work regularly and she said no. Hoping I can contact HR and see what my options are as it is a large company.

SC, look after your health first. Go to rehab and get well. You can figure out everything else afterwards. In Oz, you can get a letter from the doctor stating that you need treatment for an illness. It can be generic and no indication of the type of illness. A company cannot fire you if you are on medical leave. I believe it would be the same in the States.

have you seen your doctor yet? a good primary doctor can help set you up and take care of you until you can be admitted to rehab.

Good luck SoberChristy, i know how you feel, i had an episode where i took two weeks off of work so i could drink. I was pretty sure when i went back that i did not have a job as i was on probation. The aniexty was horrible. It is my dream job as well.. i excel at what i do, and that is the thing that saved me. Any one else would have been fired. I was given a second chance, thank the lord. The way i think now, if i have a drink, even one, my dream job will be gone forever. Not worth it. Its a long long road ahead, chin up , stay strong, and keep your eyes on the prize .

big hug !!
