I am CONSTANTLY drinking coffee, tea, water, crystal light, just about anything other than alcohol. OH, and chewing gum as well. Does anyone else have a new beverage of choice that they have to have?

I drink a ton of coffee. I am almost 7 months sober and my coffee intake has gone done a little over the past few months but I find that I am always drinking something for some reason.

Personally I like Mineral water with Lime or Lemon Juice addded. I need those bubbles in there. ;-)

I am always drinking club soda, seltzer water, the like. I always take a six pack with me to any function I go to. Always.

My new addiction is very tart lemonade. I drink a lot of it (constantly filling up my glass), but it sure beats the heck out of 15-20 buds.

All the Best,

I don't drink coffee much or too much tea but I do have a juice or soda going at all times. sometimes bottled water. It does help me.

Love from Lenina

I drank a lot of coffee the first month or so.

I do not any more – I probably drink less coffee now than when I drank beer. I needed coffee to get working then and to distract myself when I stopped.

Now .. well I just do not need it anymore.

I am spending about $12/day on plain seltzer water (I too like the bubbles!). I am also consuming about 4-5 20 oz cups of decaf coffee per day.

So, instead of spending on average $20/day on wine. I am now spending about $20/day on bottled water and coffee... Whatever works I guess!!!

When I first got sober, years ago....now on day 24 (again) ...I HAD to find a substitute. I drank diet Snapple for a long time....now I drink either iced tea or water...and have to have SOMETHING in my hand or near me at all times.

OK, so I am not alone. Instead of the people at the liquor store knowing who I was, now I think the workers at Dunkin Donuts are getting to know me ;-)

Coffee and green+red tea here. Fizzy water is maybe the best. Regular cold water lots. Not using high-sugar-content stuff like soda, but maybe sometimes. No energy drinks or stuff like that for me.

Every time I see that reference all that I can think of is Willy Wonka and Fizzy Lifting Drinks.

I drink lots and lots of coffee and I know that I need to stop because it's dehydrating me. Plus, I'm getting tired of eyeballing the ceiling in the dark until 1 in the morning.

Do you think there's a class of addict that is addicted to always consuming something? I substitute for A all the time with good (soda water) and bad (sweet stuff) and sometimes i wonder why? Why can't I be ok with just not eating and drinking?

I tried at first to find a replacement for alcohol. But I'm an alcoholic, there was no replacement for booze. My cravings weren't going to go away by treating it like a "thirst" issue. I have an addiction. The solution was a mental one.

My cravings are gone. I drink what I want, when I'm thirsty for it or when have a taste for something...it's a beverage, plain and simple. Not a replacement for booze. I've replaced that in my head.

I am obsessed with rooibos tea. It is delicious iced and doesn't have caffeine. I love carbonated waters too!

doggonecarl that's a good point. In my opinion it's not always replacing the addiction; however, as much as replacing the habit. So maybe some are used to having a drink and while drinking alcohol it was that but now I can be seltzer water, etc...
For me right now it's plain water. I drink tons of it... and I think that's also because in my head I feel like I'm still getting rid of toxins from my body and think it'll help.

I only drank at night, or from dinnertime and later. So, no, I do not need a drink at all times. Even before drinking alcoholically, I drank lots of water. never was a soda drinker and only tend to do coffee(now decaf) in the morning. If I am tryin to get through a Sat. evening craving, I will have seltzer. Sometimes add a splash of juice, and citrus fruit wedge of some sort. Wine was my drink.
