Online AA...perfect!

I'm happy to have found this site on a google search for 'Wet Brain Symptoms'.

Little about me: I am currently in recovery (9 months so far) and my final attempt at Sobriety! At its worst I was drinking a 26oz a day. Fortunately for me, my physical health has stopped me from drinking...for good. This is thanks to a Jejunostomy (feeding tube through my abdomen into my stomach and threaded further into small intestine). I can't (currently) and don't drink or eat anything via mouth. My last meal that I ate was May 4th of this year. Dx=Severe Gastroparesis.

Yes, Sobriety is GREAT! But now I am having to adjust to a new life, in a body that is (in my mind) permanently damaged from chronic and heavy abuse of alcohol.

I have a ton to share, and I look forward to learning more from the members here!

Welcome Jaxin! Glad you are here. This board supports many recovery options including AA. I am also an AA member.

Jump on in and congrats on 9 months!

Thanks. So far (at least for me), The Big Book and AA has been invaluable. My only regret about it, is that I hadn't read it and learned about the 12 steps 10 years ago. I'm still quite early in terms of recovery, and lately I've been fighting the urge to find something to alter my sober frame of mind. AA sponsor? Nope. Haven't been able to find one. Hence, my total excitement when I found this site.

Welcome Jax

Like Gracie said, we're not affiliated with AA or any other group here - but you'll find a lot of AA members around who will be able to assist you

Thanks D. The title of my original post might be misleading and/or taken wrong? Idk. All I can say is that I am very happy and excited to have found this site.

I will likely be more of a reader than a poster here. I can't really share a story that's already been told...

Noones story is ever exactly the same Jax.

Something in your story may help someone else?
Food for thought anyway

Yes, please share your story, Jaxin. As Dee says, no two stories are ever the same and we have so very much to learn from each other's

Thanks for the encouragement. I will try to share what I can. However, I'm a follower, not a leader. AND if 'Self Esteem' was a school, I'd still be in kindergarten!

Lovely to meet you Jaxin!

Sorry to hear that you have been through such a hard time, but so very glad you have joined us here.

Self-esteem is a huge issue for many of us, but it somehow helps to share our stories and find that so many others understand.
Follow as much as you like, but it would be lovely to hear more of your story when, and if, you feel ready.

In the meantime, Welcome to SR!!!

Much love,

Venus xx

Welcome to SR, Jaxin. I think we could all learn something from your story if you decide to share it. Also, I think there's a little bit of leader in all of us. After all we all lead our own lives, even if those lives are unmanageable when we first come into recovery, as mine was.

Hi Jax,

Welcome! My sister in law has that condition and it's very hard to live with. You seem to have a great attitude. Glad you found us.

Congratulations on your sober time. I found a great AA book called "Living Sober" to be of great value over the years. When I first arrived the person at a beginners meeting responded to me after I got the BB and I said that I read it quite proudly "now study it" which can be said for most literature. As a lot of us I have a built in forgetter because no matter how many times I've read the BB there are each time a number of times I swear I never saw that part before.

BE WELL

Thanks Jen. Maybe this isn't the place to discuss it, but I'm eager to learn about others who have complications such as this, as a result of alcoholism.

Hi

Tried to PM you but it says you don't accept them. I'd love to talk more about it but don't want to discuss her medical condition in public.
