One Year!!!! (and one day)
One Year!!!! (and one day)
Hi everybody!
Yesterday I celebrated my one year anniversary of sobriety!
I know I haven't exactly been posting here very often, but I do lurk from time to time. These forums helped me get though my early days and also through the many, many relapses that came before I finally got clean and sober. Thank you all for everything you do...I don't think I would have ever got to this point with out the initial encouragement and support I found here. You all made me want to change and helped me understand that it was possible to get to that point.
I've replaced my alcohol and pill addictions with a serious running addiction. In the past year, I've ran 3 marathons, 5 half marathons, and a handful of 5 and 10K races. OH MY GOD IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE ALIVE AGAIN!
To those of you who are just starting, stumbling, restarting, etc...hang in there. We've all been through it. Keep working, lean on others for support, do whatever you have to in order to get sober -- do what works for you. Your life will come back together slowly, and believe me, it is totally worth it.
Love you all. Stay positive!

Congrats Taws!!!! You have so much to be proud of! Running is absolutely the greatest replacement to addiction! When I first quit I use to run to run from me, now when I run it's a spiritual zen thing.
Thank you for sharing your success, it's truly inspirational!
