Hi
This is my first post. I'm not writing much because I have a massive hangover and feel sick. My husband doesn't know it's a hangover. I drank half a bottle of vodka (which I had hidden in the garage) on top of my wine last night. Today Ive poured the rest away and wrapped the empty up and put in the bin. Today will be easy because I feel so ill.

HI, Minnieminx.
Welcome to SR!
Congrats on making a decision to quite alcohol - sober life is million times better.
There's October class for those who decided to quit drinking this month. Join them!

Welcome! I have been where you are.
Try drinking beef broth to settle your stomach. That is the only thing that worked for me. Hopefully you have some boullion around or can get some soon.
After you get done being hungover, what is your plan?

Hi minnieminx. Im back and forth on this site because I keep goofing up and hurting myself with beer and all that trash. I want to stay a recovered member on this site. You can too!
Have you ever been to an AA meeting?
Have you ever been to an AA meeting?
Welcome. When I started to feel better alcohol would tell me it wasnt that bad, that one drink will not hurt. I had to have a plan that did not rely on will power alone. I tried many things but AA worked for me
to SR! Do you have any support in real life? Have you considered going to meetings? I see a counselor and come to this site every day. It's kept me sober almost four years now. You can do this!

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Elisabeth, I am aiming for 4 weeks to start. I'd like to just stop forever but that sounds too frightening.

yes DD, the one day at a time is a better idea. As I was typing 4 weeks, I was already thinking about next weekend and my birthday in a couple of weeks and how I would cope!
I haven't been to AA. The stigma and the fear of seeing someone I know and the religion puts me off.

I'm not going to meetings either, my anxiety keeping me away, but I am working the 12 steps.
This forum is amazing for support. I've been on here virtually non-stop for a couple weeks, when I'm not working, and I KNOW that it has helped me stay sober. Even if you don't post a lot, reading others posts is invaluable.
