Ok, well this my first post. I'm day 2 after my last drink and even though I feel like total crap.... I know its totally worth it. The sweating, anxiety and feeling of emptiness reall suck, but hopefully this is the last time I go through this. I've got a lot of things to figure out very soon but at least I know that made the decision that I want this....

Welcome to SR! You've made a wise choice, and sobriety is definitely worth the initial hardships. Read lots and ask lots of questions, there are people here from all over the world and experience with just about all the different types of recovery methods out there.

Welcome to SR.
Yeah, those nasty first days of detox are terrible.
But,once you're through that it's just mind games.

Lnsmith, welcome!

There's great support here. It DOES get better once you're done detoxing, and slowly but steadily, it keeps getting better and better.

Welcome, Lnsmith2106. You have made an important, life-changing decision. The physical response you are feeling is the sober you, fighting it out with the alcoholic you. Grind it out for the next few days, knowing that each day you stay sober, the physical withdrawal and the cravings will slowly start to subside. In its place you will start to notice more and more of the physical, emotional and mental benefits of sobriety.

Be strong. Post often. And congratulations. I am glad you are here with us.
