Day 13 and freaking out

Stressed. Cannot finish paper. Don't know what to do, it is already late. I have to work for three more hours and then I am going to the bar because I don't want to feel this way anymore. I hate what I do for a living and the stupid choices I have made in my life. My office mate doesn't even respect me and takes over the space, I ******* hate my life and I can't do this, I can't stay sober because I hate myself and I hate my life.

I'm going to breathe but I might just need to go to bed. No sleep last night.

Just take some time and relax ACH. You've been here before many, many times and you know how to get through this. Take a walk or just get some fresh air. Things will get done when they get done, and worrying about it won't help. And you know that drinking absolutely won't help, it will instantly make everything worse.

Friend-

You're smart enough, and experienced enough, to call a sponsor before going to a bar of all places.

Screw the paper.
Honestly, Who gives a chit.
Put all of your energy into NOT drinking today, and today only, instead.

If you have ten problems (and if you are anything like me, you do and more!) and one of them is alcoholism, how much progress will you make on the other nine if you drink?

Breath and remember, if you don't drink, you have a chance to fix the rest of the stuff. If you drink...... who can say?

Hang in there man, and think about your priorities. Really. The big picture. You've made it 13 days! These are temporary problems and any significant improvement in your life situation will require sobriety. Nothing else is important. Eff all the rest.

Yes, hang in there, Ach. This time tomorrow you'll be on TWO WEEKS!!

Sounds like an early night might be a good idea. Your paper should seem easier in the morning.

Still rooting for you, pal

Please don't go to the bar. It'll take you right back to that bad place that drinking brought you. Do something to take your mind off it. But whatever you do, don't go to the bar, please.

It seems like you are overwhelmed. If i were you i would try and separate the reason you are stressed (most likely your paper and lack of sleep) from thinking you just hate your life in general. You can stay sober. Staying sober will give you a lot more options and allow you to build the kind of life you want. Drinking will make everything much worse. Try and get some rest and you will most likely feel better. Tomorrow is a new day and you will have two weeks sober.

It sounds like you feel up against the wall with nowhere to go. I'm sorry--I have felt that too. But every time I "got away" by crawling in the bottle, it just got harder to get out.

I wish you peace and a deep knowing that you are worthy just as you are right now and that life situations and choices can always be changed.

Home now and about to read and go to bed early. I just want a beer and a cigarette, but I know it is never just a few. Trying to be strong. Meeting later but I am exhausted.

Thank you good people. I am going to have a shower and try to calm down, maybe play a game. I can deal with my problems.

You can do it Ach. You've gone this long, and drinking, as you know, will not make you feel better!

Stay strong, stay sober.

Awesome. A nice hot shower will definitely help. Some deep breathing afterward for 10 minutes or so will help even more. It really does work. I was skeptical myself until I really tried it. I was pretty amazed.

Rooting for you Ach! Glad you posted here. You can stay sober, even if you have to take it minute by minute.

I just do not know why Friday comes around and all I want to do is drink and go waste money.
