Wow this is going fast
Today I made a call the the rehab facility of my choice. On speaker so that my parents could participate.
Their assessment was: severe alcoholism with complications regarding health, social functioning and problems taking care of myself. High likelihood of relapse if left untreated. Treatment is needed urgently and on short notice.
So I will be taken in TODAY. They expect me there in two hours. It's inpatient. There's a room ready and everything.
I wasn't expecting this but I'm happy about it. I really didn't know that this type of procedure was possible. I did some research and it's actually pretty common in addiction care in my country for people to be taken in that fast. Sometimes even faster it is even more urgent. 24/7. I was in the mindset of "Well weekend's coming up, I'll probably get an appointment next week if I'm lucky". This was unexpected but a relief as well.
I have no clue how long I have to stay there. That will be assessed during my stay. No laptops or phones allowed. They have pc's in the clinic and phones as well.
Since I don't want to access this forum where I have posted so much personal stuff on a public computer, I'll be gone from this forum for the duration of the treatment. To resist temptation, I won't be bringing my password. I never memorized it since I use one of those automatic tools (KeePass) with an integrated password generator.
So I'll hang around for 30 minutes or so and then my parents drop me off at the clinic.
Finally the start of a new life.
Now is the perfect moment to play my motivational song.

Congrats, James! This could be the start of a brand new life. A brand new you!
I was whisked off to rehab before I was expecting. I thought I needed another few days in the hospital, but a bed opened up so I had like an hour to prepare mentally. But it was meant to be. Just try to relax and let the process happen.
Rooting for you!
And don't worry about the personal stuff. You'll learn to let it out in controlled environments in your small, process groups. You will build trust with your group so you can share some of the stuff you've shared with us. And they will support you and not judge you.

Best of luck James, all of the stars are aligned for you to do great things, make the best of it and learn how to live sober. Remember too that SR is publicly viewable without logging in, so you can certainly read while you are there if it helps. See you when you get back!

All the best James.
I can't help cogitating on your theme song. I like Eminem. I'm guessing "survival of the fittest" is some sort of credo for ya? Dog eat dog..only the smart, skilled, fighters survive?
Hmmm... food for thought.
I wish you health, blessings, insight, support and love in your rehab recovery effort.
