Newbie on day 5
Day 5 without alcohol. Can say I've only abstained this long this maybe 3 or 4 times in the past 20 years. Last couple of nights I have slept through without waking up...wow I feel good this morning. Weekend is coming... Football... Triggers.... We shall see.

Here's a link to a thread about football
Also, do a search on SR for triggers.
My very best to you and One Day At A Time.
I am glad you are feeling better.

Hello, and welcome.
Congratulations on five days. That fourth day was always the hardest for me.
The alcohol is out of your system now so you should be safe.
remember how you feel now: Good. And remember how you felt on your last hangover. If they were anything like mine, it was a nightmare. You never have to feel that way again. Just don't take the first drink.
I drank a very long time and would manage a few days of sobriety here and there, but always went back to it.
It's been two years nine months now, and I was a bad, every day drunk.
Your post hit a chord with me is why I'm being so long winded.
Football was a big trigger for me, too. Now, I can watch the game and remember what happened the next day.
I'm glad you joined and hope you feel free to post as often as you like.
Best to you.

Welcome, from another sober Louisianan. There are several of us here on SR. It CAN be done....through weekends, football, pig roasts, crawfish boils, and even Mardi Gras! And it can be very good. Hope you will stick around. Congrats on your 5 days!
