Dr yesterday and another appt today...

I have gone to my Dr yesterday and early last week also, he thought it was a good thing that I'd managed 4 days without alcohol (out of the 9 in between our appointments) I can't seem to get past 2 nights in a row which is disappointing me (a lot)

I have an appt with a drug & alcohol services place in an hour and a half. I'm anxious. I cancelled the appt I had booked at the same place last year. I'm going through with it today because I'm just so tired of this. I want to feel better, I want to have more energy and money. I just need to get through the first week or 10 days or whatever and I hope then that i will be too scared to drink again??!

Thanks for reading, I am really thankful to be able to come here to read people's stories for inspiration/understanding everyday

I hope your appointment goes well for you and that they can help you get started on the road to sobriety.

Thumbs up Thanks

Yes, I sat there very nervous and felt a bit sick (?) I think because I'm afraid that I'll get 'judgement' from anyone/everyone?! The guy was good, asked lots of standard questions being the first time, I felt good when I left so that's a good sign I guess!
He thought a 3 day detox with the oxazepam that i have is the best start, after that he mentioned 'campral' and some other drug (that I can't remember the name of) as being helpful in treatment. I said that I'd talk to my Dr about it (I know we can't do that stuff on here!) I'm willing to try different things, I know there's an AA in my area on Tuesday evenings. I'm thinking about it, the less judged I feel by talking to different people then the more confident I am in asking for help/admitting that this has to be sorted out (now!!)

Thanks for the support and kind words & thoughts

Hi Bubbly

Best of luck to a fellow Strailyan THe other drug may be Naltrexone. It is commonly paired with Campral. I initially took those but to be honest, I didnt really pay attention to the daily dosage so it didnt work.

Anyway, I wish you all the best in your recovery ! PLenty of AA meetings around so you might want to poke your head into one of the meetings if curious.

How do you judge someone who is facing their fears and working really hard to make positive changes? I judge that person as someone to admire and root for in life! NO SHAME!!

You are doing great, bubblygirl!
