Finally Ready

I just realized that I joined this forum over two years ago with the intent of getting sober. Obviously that didn't happen as I'm posting now.

I've taken the rest of the week off of work to get this done over the next six days and yes I know the drill about being careful, go to the ER, call an ambulance, etc. :-)

I'm not anticipating any bad withdrawals but I have a sober friend staying with me and monitoring me 24/7.

What I am anticipating is getting back to the person I know and love, and hopefully giving back in the future to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

Thanks guys.

All the best DF! What are your plans for after this week? You may or may not be aware that outcomes are much better for those who find some sort of support group.

That's an excellent point. I've already mapped out all of the meetings near my house and work and how they integrate with my schedule. Thanks man.

That's so great you can take the week off to get some rest and kick start your recovery. Good luck to you. You will not regret living sober.

Couldn't fall asleep until 5am, but finally did and then slept ok. Besides feeling a little shaky I feel pretty damn good.

I much feel better than a "normal" morning and by this point in the day I'd normally already be through 1/3 or more a fifth of vodka.

I think tapering off the two days beforehand and making sure I was well hydrated and full of the requisite vitamins (b1,b3,b12,c) really helped.

Still a bit shaky, but easily managing to work from home today. It's so nice to wake up without being a nasty sweaty mess and instantly craving something to make me feel like I'm not vibrating to death on the inside.
