struggling
I'm struggling with cravings too. I've been trying to distract myself all day - talking, watching funny videos, cleaning, reading articles, and posting on here all day. It's day 1 again, but I really want this. Do you have any coping skills for your cravings and urges?

Never really started aa. This is my first honest attempt. While I do have some coping strategies anxiety makes it hard to focus. Just reminding myself how horrible and humiliating detox was.
Have been going to every aa and life ring meeting I can though. A dozen or so since I was released.

I'd like a drink or ten, too. But I won't because I'm an alcohol affected by a malady that is cunning, baffling and powerful. I'd be back at it full force in no time. Wasting my life and going through all the horrors alcohol wrought on me.
I understand where you're coming from. I've been there. It sounds like you're doing the right things, and that's great. Keep it up.
Just keep in mind those thoughts about how horrible and humiliating detox was, and realize you never have to submit yourself to it again if you don't take that first drink.
My thoughts are with you.
